Several Members in the Rajya Sabha have expressed concern over the increasing user development fees at airports and asked the government to take appropriate steps to reduce the burden on the passengers.

Participating in a discussion on a Statutory Motion, they also took exception to the charging of the user development fee for both the embarking and disembarking passengers at the airports.

Moving the Motion, Mr K N Balgopal of CPIM said the collection of such a fee is illegal as no proper rules were framed by the government. The discussion is continuing till the last reports came in.
