ElBaradei arrives in Tehran for nuclear talks

The head of the UN's nuclear watchdog Mohamed ElBaradei has arrived in Tehran on Saturday evening to discuss inspection of Iran's recently revealed second uranium enrichment plant. According to Iranian news agency IRNA, during his two days stay in the country, Mr. ElBaradei will meet with the head of Iran's nuclear organization, Ali-Akbar Salehi and other officials. Reports suggest that he will discuss plans to allow International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspectors to visit the Fordu site in Qom, as demanded by world powers. Iran agreed to allow IAEA inspectors unfettered access to the plant during talks with the permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany in Geneva earlier in the week. Meanwhile Iran's president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Sunday once again defended Tehran's nuclear programme, including the building of the new plant near Qom.The Fordu site near Qom is the country's second nuclear plant, after the Natanz facility in central Iran.
