In Assam, elaborate security arrangements have been made for Thursday’s counting of votes for the 126 assembly seats of the state legislature. Polling to these constituencies was held in two phases on 4th and 11th of last month. AIR correspondent reports that three tier security ring has been put in place in all the 48 counting centres across the state with deployment of one company of central paramilitary forces at each of the counting centres. The Election Commission has deputed 80 observers to ensure trouble-free counting of votes in the state.
