Elaborate security arrangements for CWG: Delhi Police

Delhi Police says that all security arrangements are in place for the smooth conduct of Commonwealth Games in the national capital in October this year. Addressing a press conference in New Delhi today, Delhi Police Commissioner Y S Dadwal said that the Police made presentations regarding the security arragements to the Commonwealth top brass and other dignitories who expressed satisfation at the arrangements. He said all taxi drivers operating in the national capital will be given biometric passes to ensure tight security of the public and the VIPs.Dadwal said that modern gadgets are being provided to Delhi Police and for the first time a complete change in finger print data will be introduced in the system. This, he said, will help in identification of suspects and will be installed in 135 police stations across the capital.Taking an overview of the security situation in the capital, Dadwal said that the crime graph has come down keepig in view the population ratio.The police chief said that adequate attention is being paid to address the concern of threat posed by terrorists and gave the details of 20 terrorists arrested by the police. He claimed that most of the cases of theft and killings have been sorted out with kingpins of various gangs operating in Delhi and outskirts arrested.He warned police officials against any negligence in their duty and said 10 SHOs have been suspended and departmental inquiry has been initiated against 13 others for their ommission and commission while discharging their duties.AIR correspondent reports that the police commissioner, while replying a volley of questions from reporters, said that the involvement of first timers in the murder cases is 94 per cent It is the cause of concern and reasons behind the trend is being looked into.
