The Election Commission has deputed 45 companies of the Central Armed Police Force, over 900 home guards, 38 battalions of Karnataka state Reserve police, 10 battalions of Central Armed Police force and 40 battalions of City armed reserve.<br />'' <br />'' The by-elections are necessitated due to the disqualification of 14 Congress and three JD(S) party rebel legislators, leading to the fall of Congress-JD(S) coalition government in the state.<br />'' <br />''The by-election is not being conducted in two of the assembly constituencies namely Maski in Raichur district and R R Nagar in Bengaluru south-west as there is a litigation against the candidates who had won the May 2018  Assembly election.</span>
