Elaborate arrangements are being put in place for tomorrow's fifth phase of Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh. 51 constituencies, spread over 11 districts in Terai and eastern part of the state, will go to polls in this phase. <br/><br/>The districts are Balrampur, Gonda, Faizabad, Ambedkar Nagar, Bahraich, Shravasti, Siddharth Nagar, Basti, Sant Kabir Nagar, Amethi and Sultanpur. Polling for Alapur Assembly seat was postponed till the 9th of next month following the death of a Samajwadi Party candidate.<br/><br/>Polling parties have started reaching polling booths, and a good number of security personnel are also being deployed. 607 candidates, including 40 women, are in the fray in this phase. Over 1 crore 81 lakh voters are eligible to exercise their franchise.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, campaigning has reached its peak for the remaining two phases in Uttar Pradesh and also for the two-phase Manipur polls. Top leaders of various political parties are leaving no stone unturned to woo the voters in both the states.<br/><br/>In Uttar Pradesh, BJP President Amit Shah, Union Minister Rajnath Singh, Samajwadi Party President and Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and BSP Chief Mayawati will address rallies at various places today.Manipur as well as the last two phases in UP will go to polls on the 4th and 8th of next month.<br/><br/>In both states, the Election Commission has barred political parties and candidates from publishing advertisements in print media on the polling day and one day prior to it, without its approval. The Commission said, the decision has been taken in view of past instances of advertisements of offending and misleading nature in print media on such occasions which vitiate the elections.
