Wife of missing Sri Lankan journalist Prageeth Ekneligoda on Monday handed over a petition to the United Nations (UN) seeking UN intervention to persuade the Sri Lankan government to provide details of his whereabouts or to conduct a credible inquiry into Prageeth’s disappearance.Mrs. Sandhya Ekneligoda handed over the petition to the UN Resident Coordinator in Sri Lanka, Neil Buhne at the UN office in Colombo. Prageeth Ekneligoda was allegedly abducted on January 24, 2010 by a group if unidentified persons , while returning home from work . Even after a year, there has been no breakthrough in the case by the Sri Lankan authorities.Earlier , amongst others the case of Prageeth Ekneligoda was mentioned by the Reporters without Borders, a journalist rights watchdog, while appealing for boycott the upcoming Galle Literary festival to be held next week in a country . Noam Chomsky and Arundhati Roy also supported the appeal for boycott stating that there was no environment for freedom of expression in Sri Lanka.
