In Assam, eight persons died and over 12 injured in two separate road accidents in Nagaon and Sonitpur districts on Monday afternoon.Six persons, including a pregnant woman, died in a tragic road mishap at Puranigudam in Nagaon district.While four of them died on-the-spot, two others succumbed to their injuries at hospital. Seven other passengers, who sustained grievous injuries, have been admitted to Nagaon Civil Hospital .The incident took place when a passenger-carrying Tata Magic vehicle collided head-on with a truck coming from opposite direction at Kakhari village on the National Highway Number 37.The victims included the driver and the proprietor of the Tata Magic vehicle. The passengers were on their way to Jakhalabandha from Nagaon town in the same district.In another incident, two persons died on-the-spot and five others injured following a head-on-collision between an Army vehicle and a private car at Mission Chariali in Sonitpur on Monday afternoon.The injured have been admitted to Civil hospital at Tezpur.
