Russian authorities say, at least eight militants and a top anti-terrorism officer were killed yesterday in the increasingly volatile Southern Republic of Dagestan. Itar-Tass news agency said, the militants were killed in a shot-out just outside Dagstan's capital after special operations forces surrounded a house where the suspects were hiding. Reports said, the suspects opened fire after refusing police demands to surrender.
