Eight killed in two separate suicide attacks in Iraq

In Iraq, eight people have been killed and 25 others injured in two separate suicide bomb attacks in the capital city of Baghdad. The attackers targeted polling stations as early voting has begun for hundreds of thousands of government employees in the country's parliamentary elections. There were conflicting accounts of the first bomb attack this morning in the north-west Baghdad in which five people were killed 10 wounded near a polling station. Some reports said it was a roadside booby-trap, others said a rocket had been fired near a school due to be used as a polling station on Sunday. Later in the day, a suicide bomber attacked a polling station in the capital city killing at least three soldiers and wounding 15 others.Earlier, In Iraq, five people were killed and 22 wounded from the explosion that occurred in northeastern Baghdad this morning. Voice of Iraq news agency quoting police sources has reported that incident occurred when an improvised explosive device, planted near a residential building in al-Hourriya region in northeastern Baghdad, went off, killing civilians.The explosion happened near a school which is an electoral center. The blast did not damage the center but caused severe material damage to the residential building.Meanwhile according to Iraq’s head of the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC), the Special voting has begun in Iraq with participation of 6 lakh voters. Early voters include detainees, hospital patients and military and security personnel who will be working on election day. General voting for the Parliament will take place on 7th of this month.
