In Italy, a speeding car plowed head-on into a group of cyclists in the southern region this morning, killing eight of them. Police said, the driver had been smoking marijuana. Bent, mangled bikes were strewn about the scene, and corpses dotted the two-lane road near Lamezia Terme, where the accident occurred. A spokesman for ANAS news agency, which runs Italy's state roads and highways said, in addition to the eight cyclists killed, four people were also injured. The driver, who was slightly injured, was placed under arrest.
