In Afghanistan, eight people including two policemen have been killed and 18 others injured in an explosion in Imam Saheb district in the north of the country. According to the district chief Mohammad Ayoub Haqyar, the blast occured today in a remote town in the district when the bomb placed in a motorbike detonated in the middle of a bazaar. He said a pro-government militia commander was among the dead and was the likely target of the attack. The district police chief said an investigation into the attack was underway. Earlier today, Taliban insurgents attacked the main airport and a foreign military base at Jalalabad in which eight militants were killed.
