Sri Lankan Navy arrested 8 Indian fishermen and apprehended two Indian fishing vessels in an early morning action on Sunday.<br/><br/>Sri Lanka Navy spokesman Captain Akram Alavi confirmed that two Indian fishing boats were caught near Delft Island when they were found fishing in Sri Lankan waters.<br/><br/>8 fishermen abroad these boats have been taken to Karainagar to be handed over to officers of Fisheries Department.<br/><br/>They will be produced before the local magistrate for legal action later in the day, Captain Alavi said.<br/> <br/>Officials of Indian consulate in Jaffna will assist the fishermen in legal proceedings.<br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports, according to an official of the Indian Consulate in Jaffna, the fishermen will be produced before Kytes magistrate in Jaffna at his residence by Fisheries Authorities later in the day.<br/><br/>Indian officials will assist the fishermen in the proceedings.<br/> <br/>There are 41 Indian fishermen in Sri Lankan custody now.<br/><br/>Earlier last month, both the countries had released each other's fishermen held by them as a goodwill gesture for Diwali.
