Eid-ul-Fitr celebrated with religious fervour

Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated with rich fervour across the country today.<br/><br/>In the National Capital, hundreds of people thronged to the Jama Masjid to offer prayers in the morning.<br/><br/>In Jammu and Kashmir, barring stray incidents of stone-pelting, Eid prayers passed off peacefully amidst precautionary measures which saw top separatist leaders being placed under house arrest ahead of the occasion.<br/><br/>AIR Bhopal Correspondent reports that in Madhya Pradesh also, the festival was celebrated with traditional fervour.<br/><br/>AIR Hyderabad Correspondent says the Telangana State government celebrated Eid for the first time officially while Andhra Pradesh Government also offered sops to Muslim devout.<br/><br/>In West Bengal, Eid was celebrated today with Muslims across the state offering special prayers at mosques and idgahs, exchanging greetings and participating in feasts with their near and their ones.<br/><br/>Despite and over cast sky, hundreds of faithful turned up at the historic Nakhoda Masjid to offer prayers and exchange greetings with each other for the festival which marks the end of Ramzan, a month of fasting from dawn to sun set every day stop.<br/><br/>Besides greeting the people on this festive occasion, the state Chief Minister Ms. Mamata Banerjee joint the Ead congregation.<br/><br/>In the city's sprawling Red Road which witnessed over 40 thousand devotees offering namaaz.<br/><br/>In his massage, Governor Mr. Tripathy called for celebrating the auspicious occasion with the spirit of togetherness.<br/><br/>Devotees hugged each other and wished "Eid Mubarak" exchanged gifts and enjoyed special dishes, particularly sewayian made of vermicelli, fhirni and varieties of biriyani and kebab.<br/><br/>Eid-ul-Fitr marks the culmination of the fasting month of Ramzan.<br/><br/>The ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, Ramzan is observed as a fasting period by Muslims, who abstain from food and water from sunrise to sunset.<br/><br/>President, Vice President and Prime Minister have greeted the nation on the occasion. In his message, President Pranab Mukherjee expressed hope that the festival will unite people of all faiths in harmony, solidarity and brotherhood and re-affirms the pride in the composite culture of the country.<br/><br/>Vice President, Hamid Ansari said the festival signifies the traditional expression of brotherhood and understanding among people.<br/><br/>In his message on twitter, Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his greetings on the conclusion of the holy month of Ramzan and Eid.
