Eid-ul-Fitr being celebrated across country with joy and festivity

Eid-ul-Fitr is being celebrated with religious fervour and enthusiasm in various parts of the country today. The faithfuls attired in their best thronged Eidgahs and mosques to offer Eid prayers. Later they exchanged Eid greetings.<br/><br/>In Delhi, main congregations were held at Jama Masjid, Fatehpuri Masjid and Shahi Eidgah. Speaking on the occasion, the Imams, who led the prayers appealed to the people to maintain peace and harmony and prayed for the progress and prosperity of the country. <br/><br/>The celebration of Eid promotes national integration and the feeling of brotherhood. Elaborate security arrangements have been made for the occasion. Reports of Eid celebrations have also come in from other parts of the country.

Eid-ul-Fitr is being celebrated across the country today with joy and festivity and Eid moon was sighted yesterday in the country as the exact date of Eid depends on visual observation of the new moon. <br/>'<br/>Muslims across the world look forward to the Ramdan-Eid as an occasion of peace and happiness. With special prayers and an extension of forgiveness and generosity, the day brings people together and encourages fellowship. Relatives, friends, and family are welcomed and offered 'meethi sevai' and delicious food. Endowments are given to youngsters in the form of Eidi.'<br/>'<br/>The festival marks the culmination of fasting and holy month of Ramdan. The ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, Ramdan, is observed as a fasting period by Muslims who abstain from food and water from sunrise to sunset.<br/>'<br/>President Pranab Mukherjee, Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have greeted the country on Eid. <br/>'<br/>Mr Modi in his Mann Ki Baat on All India Radio has extending Eid greetings to all said, inspiration should be drawn from pious festivals to spread happiness and to take the nation forward. He also said that India's diversity is its speciality as well as its strength.
