Eid Milad-Un-Nabi, the birthday of Prophet Mohammad, is being celebrated with religious fervour in various parts of the country today. Milad Mehfils and Seerat Conferences highlighting the life and and teachings of Prophet Mohammad are being held across the country. Processions are being taken out at many places to mark the occasion.<br/><br/>Prime Minister Narendra Modi has greeted the nation on Eid-e-Milad-un Nabi. Tweeting from Moscow, where he is on a two day visit, Mr Modi wished that this festival may deepen the bond of brotherhood and compassion in society. <br/><br/>In the national capital, hundreds of people from the Muslim community took part in the Eid processions. Eid processions were taken out in Old Delhi, Jafrabad, Mehrauli and Okhla. The lanes near Jama Masjid are buzzing with crowds, with aroma of kebabs wafting in the air.<br/><br/><br/>Undeterred by below freezing temperature, thousands of people, including women and children joined the night-long prayers in shrines, mosques, and other holy places in the Kashmir valley and Leh and Kargil. The main congregation was held at Aasar-e-Sharief, Hazratbal which houses the holy Relic of Prophet Muhammad. <br/><br/>Immediately after Fajr (morning) prayers, devotees had the glimpse of Holy Relic. The process will continue throughout the day today and tomorrow. Special prayers were also organised at Leh, Kargil and Drass and other places in Ladakh region.<br/><br/>In Madhya Pradesh capital, traditional Milad-Un-Nabi procession began from Mangalwara of the walled city. Akharas and tableaus focusing on teachings of Islam are the main attraction of the procession. The procession will pass from major routes of the walled city and culminate at Imamigate this evening. Main squares of the walled city are beautifully decorated to mark the day. Processions are also being taken out in Indore, Jabalpur and other major cities. <br/><br/>Elaborate arrangements have been made by the Hyderabad City Police to ensure peaceful conduct of the celebrations. Several localities of Hyderabad, especially in the Old City, have turned green on the occasion with green buntings, flags and banners adorning the roads all over in celebration of Milad-un-Nabi. The traditional green flags with the crescent moon are on display everywhere. Different organizations have arranged poor feeding and blood donation camps are underway at several places.<br/><br/>Kerala is immersed in a festive mood with the people celebrating the Id-E-Milad and the Christmas eve today with traditional enthusiasm and gaiety. On the eve of Christmas, churches across the State are set for mid-night mass tonight. Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, Speaker N. Sakthan and Minister Dr. M.K. Muneer have greeted the people on the occasion.<br/><br/>In Uttar Pradesh, traffic diversions have been made to facilitate the processions in the capital city Lucknow and other places including Allahabad, Jaunpur, Agra, Kanpur and Meerut. ?Elaborate security arrangements have been made to avert any untoward incident across the state.<br/><br/>In West Bengal, Children and grown-ups turned up in large number in the morning processions that were organised in Topsia, Tengra, Khiddirpore, Belgachhia and Garden reach areas in Kolkata from early in the morning to mark the occasion. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and other senior leaders have greeted people on this occasion.
