Milad Un Nabi, the birthday of Prophet Muhammad is being celebrated all over the country today. Muslims organise special recitation of the Holy Quran, Mehfal-e-Naat and Qawalis to celebrate the occasion. Mosques are tastefully decorated and illuminated at night. In the national capital the main functions will be held at Jama Masjid in old Delhi area where a large number of Muslims will take part in the Eid celebrations.The President, Vice President, Prime Minister and the UPA Chairperson have greeted the people on the occasion of Milad-Un-Nabi.In Uttar Pradesh Eid -Milad Ul Nabi is being celebrated across the state with traditional gaiety and religious fervor. Processions are being carried out in different parts of the state to celebrate the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad. The event is marked by public gatherings and religious discourses at several places. Mosques are specially decorated on this occasion. Our Lucknow correspondent reports that elaborate security arrangements have been made to maintain law and order. Priority has been given to sensitive districts including state capital Lucknow, Moradabad, Bareilly, Aligarh, Meerut, Bareilly, Kanpur, Varanasi, Allahabad and Mau in the deployment of additional forces. Quick Response Team teams have been asked to be attentive and anti-riot squads have been deployed in all the sensitive pockets of the state.In Gujarat, the ID E Milad Un Nabi is being celebrated in bordering district of Kutch with traditional gaiety and religious fervour. AIR Bhuj correspondent reports that beautifully decorated processions were taken out in Bhuj and many bordering villages in which people from other faiths also participated.In Andhra Pradesh, Milad-Un-Nabi was celebrated with traditional fervour through out the state. Marking the birthday of Prophet Mohammed, Milad-un-Nabi celebrations are being held on a large scale in Hyderabad. The festivities which had been confined mainly to the Old City till few years ago, they have been extended to newer localities, touching almost all the areas in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. Special recitations of holy Quran and scholarly lectures are being organised at mosques and several other localities on different aspects of life of the Prophet. Green flags and decoration lights, fliers and posters painted the old city green mainly in the Sunni pockets of the City. The Sunni United Forum of India has organised several programmes including a traditional procession in which large number of people are taking part. Andhra Pradesh Governor E S L Narasimhan, Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and leaders of political parties have extended their greetings to the Muslim brethren on the eve of Milad Un Nabi. Prophet’s preaches and his emphasis on peace, equality and amity has been recalled. On the occasion, People have been asked to foster the spirit of love and compassion.
