In Uttar Pradesh, Eid is being celebrated with religious fervor and gaiety throughout the state. Special Eid namaaz were offered by people at different Eidgahas and mosques in the morning. In Lucknow a large number of people gathered at Aishbagh Eidgaha ground to offered their namaz.Shia Muslims assembled at mosques at bada Imamabada for today’s prayer. Eid namaz was also organized in mosque at the Tajmahal in Agra .AIR correspondent reports, the cultural blend is being seen especially in Varanasi where Muslims are celebrating Eid and Hindus are reaching Kahivishwanth temple to offer their prayer on the occasion of Haritalika teej. A large number of women are seen at Mangala gauri temple in Varanasi to offer their prayers to lord shiva-Parvati. In Varanasi and Allahabad, people took holy bath in Ganga before offering prayers for teej and Ganesh chaturthi at different temples.Eid Ul Fitar is being celebrated across the country with enthusiasm and religious fervour. In the national capital, Muslisms thronged mosques to offer Eid prayers. Major congregations were at Jamma Masjid and Fatehpuri Shahi masjid where lakhs of people offered Eid prayers. Muslim scholars explained the importance of the holy month of Ramdan and the message of peace given by Islam. The markets in the old Delhi area are specially decorated and children are enjoying the festival wearing new clothes. Members of other communities are seen visiting Muslim families offering their greetings.The President, the Vice president and the Prime Minister have greeted the people on the occasion.In Jammu and Kashmir , Eid-ul-Fitr is being celebrated today with traditional fervour and religious devotion. Muslims wearing new dresses started thronging at beautifully decorated Eidgahs and Mosques right from the morning to offer special Eid prayers throughout the state marking the end of the holy month of Ramzan. The Markets wore festive look.AIR correspondent R.K. Raina reports from Jammu that in Jammu the main Id- congregation was held at main Idgah ground where thousands of Muslims offered prayers. Prayers were also held at various other Idgahs and Mosques. People from other communities had gathered outside Idgah, Jammu and other Mosques and were seen embracing their Muslim brethren and exchanging greetings and pleasantries when they came out from Idgahs and Mosques after offering their prayers. Reports of Id celebrations have also come from Udhampur, Reasi, Kathua, Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, Rajouri , Poonch and other towns . Administration has made elaborate security arrangements to ensure peaceful Id celebrations. Festive atmosphere has gripped the City of Temples (Jammu) to mark the coincidence of two festivals (Id and Ganesh Chaturthi) being celebrated on the same day which also symbolises communal harmony. Meanwhile, Governor N.N. Vohra , Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Deputy Chief Minister, Sh. Tara Chand and host of other leaders have greeted the people of the State on this auspicious occasion. They expressed the hope that the Id will usher a new chapter of progress and all round development in the State.In Assam, despite inclement weather the people from the Muslim community joined the rest of the country in celebrating the Eid-ul-fitre with religious ferver today. The community Eid Namaaz in Eid gah maidans was disrupted following incessant rains since this morning in different parts of the State. Several parts of Guwahati City were flooded. Traffic on some of the vital roads of the city, including the Dispur capital is disrupted because of water-logging.
