In Andhra Pradesh, Bakri – Eid, the festival of sacrifice is being celebrated with traditional fervour and gaiety across the State. Particularly, elaborate arrangements have been made for the Eid-ul-Azha prayers at the main Idgah, Miralam Idgah in the Hyderabad today. Hafiz Abdullah Qureshi Al Azhari will lead the prayers this morning after a short discourse on the significance of the festival of sacrifice. Arrangements have also been made at Idgah and at other places in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad as well in other parts of the state. Traffic diversions have been imposed at several places for Eid-ul-Zuha prayers.State Governor E S L Narsimhan, Chief Minister K Rosaiah and others have greeted people on the occasion.The goat and sheep market across the twin cities witnessed a huge rush on the eve despite the rise in prices. City folks, particularly Muslims thronged the places in huge number. Celebrated on the 10th day of 12th and last Islamic month of Dhu al-Hijjah of the Islamic calendar, joyous festivities and somber rituals mark this festival of supreme sacrifice in the city. Devout Muslims distribute the sacrificial meat among the poor, relatives and friends after the Id prayers.In UP, Eid-ul-Azha is being celebrated throughout Uttar Pradesh today with religious devotion. The Governor B L Joshi and Chief Minster Mayawati have greeted people on this occasion. The Eid-ul-Azha namaz is being organised in different mosques and Idgahs in all parts of Uttar Pradesh. The religious sacrificing ceremony ‘Kurbani’ is also taking at different community places and homes.The adequate security arrangement has been made throughout the state for peaceful celebration.Eid-ul-Azha or the Festival of Sacrifice is celebrated by Muslims to commemorate the willingness of Ibrahim to sacrifice his son Ismail as an act of obedience to God.In MP, Eid-ul-Zuha is being celebrated with religious fervour and enthusiasm. AIR Bhopal correspondent reports that governor Rameshwar Thakur and chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan have extended their greetings to the people on this occasion. Eid-ul-Zuha festival is being celebrated with usual religious fervour and gaiety in capital Bhopal . The main Id congregation is being held at the Idgah. Id prayers will also be held at various mosques including historical Tajul Masjid. This will be followed by the traditional offering of Qurbani by the people at their houses. Arrangement of more than 10 temporary slaughter houses has also been made for this purpose in the city.In J & K,Eid-ul-Azha is being celebrated today with traditional fervour and religious devotion. AIR correspondent reports, Muslims wearing new dresses started thronging at beautifully decorated Idgahs and Mosques right from the morning to offer special Eid prayers. The markets wore festive look.In Delhi, Eid ul Azha is being celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety. In the national capital a large number of people offered Eid prayers at Jamia Masjid and FathehPuri Mosque.AIR correspondent who visited several areas reports, the markets in the Old Delhi area are tastefully decorated and the entire area has been given a festive look. Scenes of communal amity and brotherhood were seen outside the Mosques and Idgahs where Hindus, Sikhs and people of other religions greeted their Muslim brothers on this holy festival. The President, the Vice-President, the Prime Minister and Congress President Sonia Gandhi have greeted the nation on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Zuha.
