In Egypt, the Egyptian criminal court has sentenced the former prime minister and two other ministers. Huge crowds gathered at Tahrir square in Cairo since last Friday demanding action against officials responsible for killings of political protestors.According to Egyptian official online media Al Ahram, former Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif was given a suspended one year sentence, while former Finance Minister Youssef Boutros Ghali, who was tried in absentia, was imposed a 10 year prison term in the same case after the court announced its verdict. Ghali, who fled the country following the revolution, was previously handed a 30 year prison term for squandering public funds.Former interior minister Habib El-Adly has been sentenced to five years jail term for squandering public funds in the infamous car plates case. El-Adly had been already given a 12-year sentence in May on corruption charges for abusing his official position to gain illegal profits.
