The Egyptian Foreign Minister, Nabil al-Arabi has called on the US to support the declaration of an independent Palestinian State. Mr. Arabi said the Americans should view the recent reconciliation between the Palestinian factions, Fatah and Hamas, as a positive development and urged Washington to persuade Israel to hold negotiations with a reunited Palestinian movement.
