The government has cautioned journalists visiting strife torned Egypt. Amid reports that some foreign journalists covering the political turmoil in Cairo have been attacked, the External Affairs Ministry on Thursday issued an advisory for those intending to cover the protests, including obtaining the State Information Service accreditation.The Ministry noted that a number of Indian journalists have travelled in recent days to Egypt to cover the developments and said it was learnt that more are planning a visit in the coming days. Even though the resources of the Embassy of India in Cairo are under pressure, they have been extending assistance and facilitation to the Indian journalists.According to some reports reaching New Delhi, a cameraman of a private TV channel in Cairo was detained and then let off while shooting the protests.Further, the MEA advised the journalists to carry sufficient foreign currency and take care of their personal safety.
