The Prime Minister of Egypt, Essam Sharaf, has cancelled an overseas trip and called an emergency Cabinet meeting to discuss lethal clashes between Muslims and Christians in Cairo. At least 10 people have been killed and more than one hundred injured in the fighting. The clashes occurred in a central Cairo neighbourhood when a conservative Salafist Muslim group surrounded a church in which they believed Christians were holding a woman who wanted to convert to Islam.
