Egypt braces for more anti government protest

More protests have been planned in Egypt by anti government protestors after two days of protests that claimed six lives so far. Government has banned rallies and more than 500 protestors have been arrested. Clashes reported in the Cairo and some other cities yesterday where protestors threw stones and state security personnel firing tear gas to disperse the crowds.Meanwhile, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has urged all Egyptians to ensure that political protests do not lead to further violence, and called on the Government to see this as an opportunity to engage in addressing the legitimate concerns of the people.In a statement received by Prasar Bharti in Dubai today, his spokesman said that United Nations is closely following the evolving protests and tensions in Egypt and the broader region. US has said that it supports the fundamental right of expression and assembly for all people and all parties should exercise restraint. It also caledl on the Egyptian authorities to handle protests peacefully. Analysts say that unrest may sill over some more countries in the region if necessary steps were not taken to address peoples’ aspiration.
