Egypt bans anti-government street protests

Egypt has banned street protests, after Tuesday's protests in Cairo and some other places against the government of President Hosni Mubarak. A statement of the Interior Ministry on Wednesday said anyone who organizes protests will be subject to legal action. Three people died during the nationwide web-inspired protests, which were broken up with tear gas overnight.Protesters had been inspired by the recent uprising in Tunisia, vowing to stay until the government fell. Reports say, some protesters again gathered in Cairo early on Wednesday. But the police dispersed them with the use of tear gas and water cannons as protesters refused to leave.
