EGOM on food decides OMSS for wheat till September

The Empowered Group of Ministers (EGoM) on Food has decided to extend the Open Market Sales Scheme (OMSS) for wheat till September. <br/> <br/>Source said, the EGoM, headed by Finance Minister Pranab Kumar Mukherjee, yesterday discussed the rice and wheat availability situation, and decided in favour of OMSS extension. The EGoM also decided to ask the Planning Commission for more data on the number of BPL families that could be covered under the public distribution system. It, however, did not discuss the Food Security Bill. <br/><br/>
