EGoM on drought gives nod for relief package of over Rs 2892cr to six affected states

An Empowered Group of Ministers (EGoM) on drought, headed by Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar, today approved the over 2892 crore rupees relief package for six affected states.

This was announced by Sharad Pawar after the meeting of the EGoM in New Delhi today. He gave details of the over 1,200 crore rupees relief package approved for Maharashtra.

Out of the total amount, 807 crore rupees will be released under the National Disaster Relief Fund to 3,905 villages in the state where drought has affected rabi crops.

The rest of the 400 crore rupees will be released under the National Horticulture Mission to 1,100 villages where drought has hit kharif crops. The other affected states covered include Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh.
