The empowered group of ministers (EGoM) on the draft food security bill has asked the Planning Commission to give the exact definition of people below the poverty line. The EGoM led by Finance Minister Mr. Pranab Mukherjee that met late last evening said, it needs more time for an in-depth study on the mechanism to provide legal rights for the poor to foodgrains at three rupees a kg.<br/><br/>Briefing reporters after the meeting, Food and Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar said the EGoM will meet again within three weeks by which time the input from the Planning Commission would have been received. Mr. Pawar said that the government would also study the systems of 22 countries in the world that provide legal food security to the poor.
