Efforts underway to launch talks with Bahrain opposition

In Bahrain, efforts are underway to launch talks with the opposition, which is demanding major political reforms amid a wave of anti-government protests. Crown Prince Salman has said that due to steps taken in the last few days situation has been calmed which has also helped restore life in Bahrain to normal in preparation for dialogue. According to Bahrain’s official news agency, Prince Salman told in a statement that some people continue to seek to block reform adding that such disruption only harms the interests of the people of Bahrain. Hundreds of protesters marched towards Bahrain’s appointed chamber of parliament while large numbers of people are camping at Pearl square. Shiite Islamic National Accord Association bloc has said that the official resignation of the party's 18 members was still pending parliamentary approval. In Oman, an uneasy calm prevailed in port town of Sohar where protests were held. Young Omani jobseekers lined up outside Manpower Ministry in Muscat to register after government announced 150 Omani riyals monthly unemployment allowance. In Egypt, former president Hosni Mubarak and his family have been banned from leaving Egypt and their assets have been frozen. Egypt's official media Al Ahram reported that the prosecutor General Abdel Meguid Mahmoud has announced this. Al Ahram quoting military sources has reported that that the former president's son, Gamal Mubarak, tried to leave the country on a private jet yesterday. He was thwarted from doing so by the military. The criminal charges are also being brought by the court against Mubarak's family. In Yemen, protestors demonstrated asking President Saleh to step down who is in power for more than 32 years. President Ali Abdullah Saleh has warned that Yemen would fracture if his regime falls. Iran’s Fars news agency reports that a judiciary source has denied the arrest of the chiefs of sedition Mousavi and Karroubi adding that the pair were at home and not in prison. The website of Iranian opposition leader Mehdi Karroubi has reported that Mir Hossein Mousavi and Mehdi Karroubi have been put under house arrest.
