In Bangladesh, nearly four days after the ill fated multi-storey Rana Plaza commercial complex collapsed at Savar on the outskirts of Dhaka, rescue teams are engaged in a massive salvage campaign using heavy machinery to clear the debris in a bid to reach out to survivors who are still feared trapped.
Talking to newsmen, General Officer Commanding of the Bangladesh army’s Ninth Division, Major General Hassan Suhrawady said that the rescue teams have so far managed to pull out 2433 people alive from the concrete rubble of the ill fated building. The death toll has risen to 361.
Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina visited the National Orthopaedic Hospital this morning to see the injured persons who are undergoing treatment in the hospital.
