The Orissa Assembly has unanimously expressed deep concern over the abduction of Malkangiri district magistrate and collector R V Krishna and junior engineer Pabitra Mohan Majhi by the Maoists. The House has passed a resolution appealing the Maoists to free the duo at the earliest. Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has once again appealed the Maoists not to physically harm Krishna and Majhi. Besides halt to the anti-Naxal joint combing operations, which has already been conceded, the seven-point demands of the Maoists included withdrawal of BSF, release of 700 jailed tribal Naxals and scrapping of Polavaram multi-purpose dam project in Andhra Pradesh.
