With just a month left for the commencement of Commonwealth Games, Centre is making all out efforts to control the spread of dengue with active cooperation from the Delhi government.The Health Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad today urged concerned agencies in the National Capital to take cleanliness drive on a warfooting to deal effectively with this menace. Speaking to reporters in New Delhi this evening, Mr. Azad said, a coordinated effort between different civic agencies of central and state governments have been chalked out to tackle its outbreak. He said that Municipal Corporation of Delhi, New Delhi Municipal Council and Central Public Works Department will jointly visit private and public buildings to ensure all water storage tanks are covered with lids and lanes and bylanes are properly cleaned. Mr Azad informed that he reviewed the situation arising out of rising Dengue cases with Delhi Health Minister Kiran Walia. Over, 1153 Dengue cases have been reported from the capital till date. He appealed to the people of NCT not to be panicky and take preventive steps. Our correspondent reports, school students have been advised to wear full sleeves and pants, instead of the customary shorts and skirts.
