Efforts on to achieve target of electrifying every village a year before PM's 2018 deadline: Goyal

Efforts are on to achieve the target of electrifying every village in the country a year before the 2018 deadline set by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Union Power Minister Peeyush Goyal said this in Mathura today while addressing a meeting of Bhartiya Janata Yuva Morcha. Goyal said that so far 38 per cent of the work has been done and 6,114 villages have been electrified.<br/>The minister asserted that there is no shortage of power and coal in the country, adding that adequate quantity of coal can now be supplied to any state on demand. Batting for increased use of LED the Minister said that it is being made available to common man at Rs 74 against its earlier market price of Rs 450 since transparency has been maintained in bidding etc.He said that use of LED bulbs would save 2.5 crore units of power.
