Efforts intensified for safe release of abducted Italian nationals

Odisha government has intensified efforts for the safe release of two Italian nationals who remained untraced on the 6th day on Monday. They were abducted by Maoists on 14th of this month. Chief Minister Navin Patnaik said in Bhubaneshwar that government is examining a pamphlet in which the rebels have set out their demands. He told state assembly that Maoists have not yet nominated their representatives to discuss the matter with the government.

The Chief Minister added when such a communication is received, further steps will be taken. Making a strong appeal to the rebels to release the hostages unharmed, the Chief Minister reiterated that government's keen desire to hold discussions with the abductors soon.
