In Odisha, all efforts are being made to trace district magistrate and collector of Malkangiri R Vineel Krishna who has been kidnapped by the Maoists. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has said in the Odisha Legislative Assembly that the state government is examining the case and police is on the job to make the young and dynamic IAS officer free. He also appealed the red-ultras to release him as Krishna has been working for the benefit of poor people of the maoist-affected Malkangiri district. Opposition parties made hue and cry during the statement of the Chief Minister alleging the government is yet to act. They said, if maoists have really kidnapped the district magistrate, it shows the sorry state of law and order situation in the state.Meanwhile, shops and other establishment in Malkangiri remain closed today. The kidnapping of Krishna has shocked everyone and created a fear psychosis among them. Krishna has been kidnapped by Maoists since last evening from the hilly terrain of Chitrakonda in Malkangir on his way back from a public health camp. Hectic parleys are on in Odisha by the police and other anti-maoist security forces to release the kidnapped district magistrate of Malkangiri R Vineel Krishna. As the 48-hour deadline given by the Maoists to take extreme step is coming close, the administration has started move to get in touch with sources close to the red-ultras. The Maoists have demanded discontinuation of anti-maoist operation and release of jailed maoists by tomorrow to free Krishna. The issue also echoed in the Odisha Legislative Assembly with opposition Congress and BJP attacking the Naveen Patnaik Government for the poor law and order situation. The house has to be adjourned time and again over the issue including the multi-crore 'dal scam' demanding resignation of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
