Educational institutions to remain shut in Kerala's seven districts tomorrow due to heavy rain

As heavy rain continues to batter southern Kerala, educational institutions will remain shut in seven districts tomorrow.  A red alert has been sounded in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, Kottayam, Alappuzha and Idukki districts today and tomorrow.<br />''<br />''Briefing media after a high-level review meeting, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said, 24-hour control rooms have been opened in District and Taluk headquarters across the  State.  National Disaster Response Force teams have been deployed in hilly and terrain areas prone to landslides.  More teams of NDRF will soon reach the State.  The safety and water levels of various dams in the State have been assessed and there is no need for concern, the Chief Minister said.<br />''<br />''Meanwhile, flash floods and landslides disrupted normal life in different parts.  In the current rain fury, five houses have collapsed while 55 others were partially damaged. Several people have been evacuated to safer places. The Indian Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rainfall in the State till Thursday. <br />''<br />''<br />
