The standing committee of East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) today passed a resolution for free parking facilities at malls, hospitals and other private establishments falling under its jurisdiction. The committee chairperson Lata Gupta said the issue was discussed as there were complaints of uncontrolled parking fees being charged by hospitals and malls in the municipal area. The EDMC is the second civic body in the city to advocate free parking. Earlier, South Delhi Municipal Corporation had banned paid parking at hospitals and malls by issuing a public notice.
