In Puducherry, the dawn to dusk Bandh called by AIADMK-led opposition parties has evoked partial response. The Bandh has been called demanding that the centre recall the Lt Governor Mr. Iqbal Singh for his alleged involvement in several controversies including his link with Hasan Ali, jailed for money laundering and tax evasion.State run buses were plying as usual, while private bus services were off the road. Several shops and business establishments remained closed, however government offices and banks functioned normally. Senior Supt of Police Mr. Atul Kattar told AIR correspondent that there has been no untoward incident reported so far.Lt Governor Mr. Iqbal Singh was questioned by officials of the Enforcement Directorate on Tuesday and the entire proceedings were video graphed. The Lt Governor has maintained that in 1997 as a Member of Parliament, he had recommended for the issuance of passport to Hasan Ali on humanitarian grounds, though he did not know him personally.
