ED files charge sheet against former Jharkhand CM Koda

The Enforcement Directorate today filed a charge sheet against former Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda in the multi-crore illegal investment and hawala transactions case against him.The Directorate filed the charge sheet at a special court in Ranchi. Official sources said that the charge sheet included details of the agency's probe in a number of Indian cities, offshore destinations and the role of his close associates like Binod and Vikash Sinha, official sources said.Koda and his associates are facing inquiries by various probe agencies like the Income Tax department, the CBI and Jharkhand Vigilance Bureau regarding the alleged illegal investments.On November 12 last year, CBI had filed a charge sheet against Koda, Binod and Sanjay. Evidence against Koda was secured during countrywide raids, including on the premises of his associates. This allegedly revealed 2,000 crore rupees in illegal investments and hawala transactions during Koda's tenure as chief minister.Koda, who was arrested in November 2009, is at present lodged in the Birsa Munda jail in Ranchi.
