The Enforcement Directorate has attached 50 kg gold worth 14 crore rupees seized from the Tamil Nadu sand mining baron Sekhar Reddy from Vellore.<br/><br/>The Income Tax officials made a search in his premises and those of his close associates in December last year following charges of conversion of demonetized currencies into new notes.<br/><br/>The search operation led to unearthing 34 crore rupees worth new 2000-rupees notes and 177 kg gold bars.<br/><br/>Several crores worth demonetized currencies were also seized from his offices. <br/><br/>Meanwhile, the Enforcement Directorate registered a case of money laundering against him and attached the 50 kg gold seized from one of his offices yesterday. <br/><br/>The anti-money laundering agency had in earlier occasions attached 34-crore rupees worth new currency, ten crore rupees demonetized notes and 36 gold bars for a total value of 68.5 crore rupees.
