The Kolkata based businessman Kashinath Tapuriah, an associate of India’s biggest tax evader Hasan Ali Khan, was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in Mumbai today. According to ED sources, Tapuriah was arrested after three days of questioning. Tapuriah's Kolkata residence was raided by the Enforcement Directorate earlier this month. The Income Tax department has raised a tax demand of 591 crore rupees against Tapuriah and 20 thousand 540 crore rupees against his wife Chandrika. Meanwhile, Khan's chartered accountant, Sunil Shinde, has been asked to appear before the ED for questioning today. The ED had conducted searches at his residence in Pune yesterday.
