ECoR becomes largest freight loading railway zone<br/>

The East Coast Railway (ECoR) has once again achieved a record in revenue loading performance and placed itself as the largest Freight Loading Railway Zone in 2015-16. During 2015-16, the East Coast Railway loaded 173.49 million tonnes of freight as compared to 161.91 during the last year, registering a 7.1 per cent growth. Similarly, the zone earned about Rs 15978.28 crore from the last financial year which is 14.13 per cent more than the previous financial year. It registered an increase of Rs 1961.27 crore in earning. Altogether, the East Coast Railway carried 131.2 rakes loading per day from its jurisdiction against 122.4 rakes per day in 2014-15. These include coal, iron ore, cement, food grains, POL and other commodities.
