Economy will bounce back to higher growth: President

The President Mrs Pratibha Devisingh Patil has expressed the hope that Indian economy will return back to the higher growth rates of above 7 per cent from the present rate of 6.5 percent. Inaugurating the India International Trade Fiar at Paragati Maidan in New Delhi today, the President said that the recent global economic crisis has impacted the country in a less severe manner due to which this robust growth has been achieved. She said that this trade fair has a unique character in combining business to business activities as well as business to consumer transactions of a large volume. AIR correspondent reports that the trade fair is expected to attract 2.5 million visitors this year. Nearly 7,500 exhibitors from 28 countries are participating in the fair, which will remain open exclusively for business visitors for the first five days. It would open for the general visitors from November 19 till it concludes on November 27. While the number of days when the general visitors can come have been curtailed this year, timing has been extended with the fair opening at 0930 am. The theme of this year's trade fair this is exports of services. While Thailand is the partner country, China will be the focus nation. Delhi is the partner state, whereas Uttarakhand is the focus state.<br/>
