The Finance Minister Mr. Pranab Mukherjee says that economy will grow higher than the projections. It was pegged at 7.75 percent in the last economic survey and the data released by the National statistical data has put it at 7.20 percent. Talking to reporters at the sidelines of a function, Mr.Mukherjee said the economy is picking up and the final data will be available only after the results of third quarter are available.<br/><br/>Earlier, addressing the consultative committee meeting of the Colombo plan in New Delhi, the Finance Minister said that the economic growth can further be accelerated by fully leveraging the demographic dividend. He said for maintaining growth momentum investments in infrastructure sectors is a must.<br/><br/>He said India requires 514 billion US dollars in the infrastructure sector in the current five years plan and a number of steps have been taken to create a congenial atmosphere for public and private partnership sin the country. Later the Finance Secretary, Mr. Ashok Chawla was elected as a Chairman of the consultative committee of the Colombo plan.<br/><br/>Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Chawla reiterated New Delhi's commitment to emerge as an international training hub as India offers low cost and high quality solutions for human resource development.<br/><br/>Addressing the function, the Secretary General of Colombo Plan Ms. Dato Patricia YM Chia said that South Cooperation has garnered support for the plan for emerging donor members countries. She said that the group is making smart partnership for the benefit of all partners particularly those who are poor.
