Economic Survey: Govt pursued 4-pronged approach to prepare economy for post-COVID world, says CEA Nageswaran

The government has said that India's GDP is projected to grow in real term by 8 to 8.5 per cent in 2022-23 and the country will still be the world's fastest economy. Addressing media in New Delhi on the Economic Survey 2021-2022, Chief Economic Advisor Dr V Anantha Nageswaran said that the overall theme of the Economic Survey is based on the theme of the policy pursued by the government especially in the Covid years. He said, the government has adopted a four pronged approach and it has provided short term support to the economy especially to the vulnerable sections during these uncertain times.<br />''<br />''During the presentation on the highlight of Economic Survey, Principal Economic Advisor in the Finance Ministry Sanjeev Sanyal said that there has been a revival in economic activities to pre-pandemic levels in the year 2021-22. He said, the economic cost of second wave of COVID-19 Pandemic was much milder in comparison to first wave.<br />''<br />''He said, the Growth in 2022-23 will be driven by widespread vaccinations, gains from supply-side reforms, easing of regulation, robust export growth and availability of fiscal space to ramp up capital spending. He said, there has been a major boom in the start-up culture in India in last six years. Mr Sanyal said that there are at least 555 districts in the country with at least one startup and India has become the third-largest startup ecosystem in the world after US and China.<br />''<br />''<span style="color: #222222;">He also said that Agriculture sector was least affected by lockdowns of various kinds and this sector grew in even 2020-21 and again in 2021-22. </span><br />
