The UPA Chairperson, Mrs Sonia Gandhi said, economic growth and social empowerment must go hand in hand. Speaking at a function in Puducherry yesterday, she said, UPA government has always pursued a progressive agenda of inclusive growth for all people, particularly weaker sections. She said, the economic growth will have social meaning and value only when people, particularly weaker sections, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, OBCs and minorities benefit. Mrs Gandhi was speaking after declaring open the 138 crore rupees Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Research Institute and the 38 crore rupees Rajiv Gandhi Government Women and Children hospital in Puducherry.
