Revival of growth in vital sectors of economy will be the focus of discussions in the two-day economic editors conference beginning in New Delhi Tuesday. The conference to be inaugurated by the Finance Minister Mr Pranab Mukherjee will also hold discussions on efficient and transparent implementation of flagship programmes for ensuring inclusive growth.<br/> The National Rural Employment Guarantee Programme and other infrastructural projects to lift the rural economy will also be deliberated upon in the conference organized by the Press Information Bureau. The exit of financial packages, more stimuli for employment intensive sectors will be at the center of discussions in the conference. A proposal to this effect is already under consideration of the government. The state of agriculture, which is likely to register negative growth due scant monsoon rain and steps taken to curb rise in food prices are also likely to hog the limelight in the talks.<br/> The conference gains special importance as the economy recovers from the impact of the global economic crisis. Our Correspondent reports that with economy estimated to grow around 6.5 per cent this fiscal, the foreign direct investments have picked up and several sectors in the industry particularly financial and Real Estate have started registering healthy growth. Crude oil, coal, electricity, cement and finished steel sectors have also shown positive growth since June this year.<br/><br/><br/> In a path breaking move to improve the functioning of various central government departments , a series of workshops will be held starting from tomorrow. The first of the work shops to be opened by the Cabinet Secretary Mr Chandershekhar will prepare the Result Framework Documents that will spell out the near term objectives of the departments. The documents will also include the actions of the departments to achieve these objectives, and outline a system for monitoring the department’s progress through success indicators. The Prime Minister had earlier approved the preparation of Results Framework Documents for all the Central departments as part of the comprehensive Performance Monitoring & Evaluation System(PMES). Our correspondent says that the move will set the tone for substantially improving the functioning of Government departments. Fifty nine departments would be preparing Results Framework Documents, in the first phase for PMES . Later they will be extended to cover in phases all the central government departments.<br/> Two hundred and Fifty senior central government will take part these 6 workshops, that will be organized from the first to the third week of November.
