In Manipur, normal life has been affected in three hill districts following economic blockade protest by the United Naga Council,UNC, and Kuki tribes. They are demanding a separate districts. According to reports, Ukhrul, Senapati and Tamenglong districts were hit by the blockade on Monday with the UNC activists blocking two important national highways linking Imphal-Dimapur-Guwahati and Imphal-Jiribam-Silchar. A hill-based committee, Sadar Hills District Demand Committee imposed economic blockade on the two highways since the first of this month to press their demand for converting Kuki-settled Sadar Hills area into a full fledged district in the Naga-majority Senapati district.
