In Manipur, normal life has been affected in three hill districts following economic blockade protests by the United Naga Council,UNC, and Kuki tribes. Ukhrul, Senapati and Tamenglong districts were hit by the blockade. Vehicular traffic along the three National Highways-39, 53 and 150 has been hampered. The blockade was called by Sadar Hills District Demand Committee to press for a full-fledged Sadar Hills District to be carved out from Senapati District. But UNC is opposing bifurcation of Naga areas in Manipur to create new districts.
