Chief Election Commissioner Rajeev Kumar has said that the Election Commission is committed to ensure that the final voter list to be published for the upcoming elections is flawless, complete and comprehensive. He said, the special summary revision (SSR) program for the voter list started in Pune is a part of it.<br />''<br />''Mr Kumar was addressing a press conference after a day-long whirlwind visit to Pune city in which various programs for voter awareness were organized.<br />''<br />''The Chief Election Commissioner said, many people across the country are still deprived of voter registration and bringing them into the mainstream of the democratic system, maintaining the ratio of the overall population and the number of voters in the country, and including every eligible woman in the country in the voter list are some other important features of this program.<br />''<br />''He clarified that if the name of anyone is to be omitted from the voter list, this process will not be completed without sending a personal notice to him and asking for an explanation.<br />''<br />''Mr Kumar said that although a campaign to link Aadhaar number with voter ID card along with mobile number has been undertaken, no one will be forced to do so.<br />''<br />''He announced at this time that the Commission has decided to register the transgender voters separately in the country and an independent committee will be formed at the district level to scrutinize those names.<br />''<br />''He said that the issue of one country, one election is outside the mandate of the Election Commission and the final decision about it should be taken jointly by the members of the Lok Sabha and the Legislative Assembly.<br />''<br />''<span style="color: #222222;">Election Commissioner Anup Chandra Pandey, State Chief Electoral Officer Shrikant Deshpande, and other senior officials of the Commission were present at the press conference.</span><br />
